Rockstar takes on the film industry

According to a Take-Two trademark registry back in December 2010, Red Dead Redemption developer and Grand Theft Auto creator Rockstar Games is making a Hollywood name for itself, going by the name of Rockstar Films. Intriguing news that will hopefully — eventually — put an end to sucky movies based on games. At least, as far as Rockstar IPs go.

The summary of the trademark reads: “Animated motion picture films featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children’s and documentary themes; pre-recorded video discs and other pre-recorded digital and electronic media in the field of live action programs, motion pictures, or animation featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children’s and documentary themes.”

In addition, it’s been reported that Take-Two has registered RockstarFilms.com and RockstarFilms.net, none of which contain anything except for code redirecting visitors to RockstarGames.com. Whatever the idea behind all of this is, we’re eager to find out.
