Released on PC back in 2009, Runic Games’ dungeon crawler Torchlight became more or less an instant success. Over the span of two years, the game’s been released on Mac and Xbox 360 as an Xbox Live Arcade title, and has seen its price tag changed several times. But it wasn’t until the very recent sale on Steam that the RPG struck platinum as it hit the one-million-units-sold-across-all-platforms milestone.
“We’re very excited to share Torchlight’s success with our fans and supporters. It’s been a great ride so far and we can’t wait to give everyone more of what they want in Torchlight II,” said president Travis Baldree. “It isn’t every day you sell a million games. We’re grateful to be here.”
Runic Games is currently hard at work on the multiplayer-enabled sequel, Torchlight II, which was set for a release this month after suffering a delay earlier in the year.
