Next-gen will be more crowded, says THQ boss

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo won’t be the only players in the next-generation console wars. At least that’s what THQ boss Brian Farrell thinks.

Speaking at an industry event in San Francisco, Farrell said he believes Google and Apple will enter the race.

“We believe Apple is going to be there, Google is going to be there,” he said.

Farrell also noted his belief that the next generation of technology will focus more on user experiences than the advancement of technology.

“Our view is that the next generation of consoles, if there are consoles, are going to be less about technology and more about service orientation of the gamer.”

Farrell certainly has a point here. The Big Three are no longer the sole juggernauts in the gaming sphere, and it’s only a matter of time before Apple and Google firmly cement their place in the market.
