Xbox 360 has topped the US hardware sales once again; according to the latest NPD Group report, June marked the sixth consecutive month the Microsoft console was #1. NPD no longer release sales figures, however Xbox’s Larry Hryb has been quick to point out that the console sold 507,000 units in June, which is “nearly 2x the nearest competitor.”
Sony hasn’t released their sales numbers.
Nintendo’s numbers are known though, and they show the DS outselling the 3DS by a considerable amount (386,000 vs 143,000). Wii sold 273,000 units.
Overall, the industry took a bit of a tumble as year-over-year software and hardware sales were down 12% and 9%, respectively. Software sales totaled at $469.5 million and hardware at $366.6 million.
