Ubisoft formally announces Uplay Passport

Electronic Arts has it. THQ has it. Warner Bros. has it. Hell, even Sony has it. What’s it, you ask? Answer: an online pass network program.

Now, Ubisoft is entering the fray with Uplay Passport, its own version of the program. It’s going to be debuted in August with Driver: San Francisco and will be added to “many of Ubisoft’s popular core games” moving forward.

As should now be understood, the Uplay Passport will be bundled with new copies of Driver: San Francisco, with those without the Passport needing to pay $9.99 to get it and gain access to online play.

So, if you’re in the market for the complete version of this and future games (“bonus content, exclusive offers” also promised), this is going to be the only way to get it.
