Sega is already making good use of its license to make Alien games. So far they’ve got Gearbox Software working on Aliens: Colonial Marines as well as Creative Assembly developing a still nameless Alien project.
Now there’s news that the Entertainment Software Ratings Board has reviewed a side-scrolling Alien title for the DS entitled Aliens: Infestation.
The detailed description given by the board portrays players controlling members of a space marine unit as they run, jump and shoot their way through hostile territory. In order to dispatch enemies, the player will have access to a variety of weapons including “rifles, pistols, flamethrowers, and explosives.”
With the technology available on the 3DS, the trend in portable videogames is pointing towards 3D adventures, but there’s still nothing wrong with a good side-scroller. Let’s hope this new project, which is being developed by WayForward Tech, is indeed a good one.
