More next-gen hullaboo today, this time from Ubisoft head man Yves Guillemot; the next Xbox and PlayStation will be with us “soon,” the exec believes.
As is the case with GameStop higher ups, Guillemot believes Nintendo’s Wii U to be the messenger of the inevitable switch to new hardware.
“I think [Wii U is] sending the message that the new transition is going to happen – and we’re going to have new machines coming soon,” he told Gamasutra for a recent feature.
And Ubisoft should be there as an early adopter once more. The company has said that its prepping the long-overdue Beyond Good & Evil 2 for next-gen systems. It’s supposedly “very far” into development.
But Wii U’s first.
“We’re going to continue to take this approach,” says Guillemot of the upcoming Nintendo system. “We feel this console is coming with very innovative features that will change the video game industry and we want to be a part of that.”
