BioWare’s goals for its soon-to-launch Star Wars: The Old Republic are anything if not ambitious; the game will last players “decades,” the studio has optimistically declared.
According to creative director James Ohlen, the MMO will ship with 19 major and an indeterminate number of minor worlds. “And our goal, obviously this being an online game, that we’re hoping is going to last for decades, we’re going to be, obviously, adding more to the galaxy map as the game progresses,” he said while answering (via) a fan question at the game’s Comic-Con panel last Thursday.
“We want to add dozens of worlds,” he added. “Hundreds of worlds eventually. In 2025, we’ll hopefully have 500 worlds.”
Pre-orders for the MMO opened last week to a speedy reception. The game is expected this holiday — possibly in November — with “beta weekends” due in September.
