Resistance 3 beta coming August 4th, 10th and 23rd

Insomniac’s Resistance 3 is little over a month away from hitting store shelves, but SOCOM 4 owners can get hands-on with the game on August 4th, which we kind of already knew. European PlayStation Plus members will gain access to the beta a few days later, on the 10th. As for international users, August 23rd should be the day to remember.

Resistance 3 will offer a heap of multiplayer features, only a handful of which will be accessible through this beta, obviously. The idea, as always with a release of this kind, is for you to have fun while developers test their online infrastructure to make sure it’s ready to go when the game actually launches.

We were teased the beta would include two of the five modes available in the full game; Team Deathmatch and Chain Reaction. What we didn’t know was where these battles were going to take place, on which maps. It’s been revealed now that Seaside of Glamorgan, Wales, and a Trainyard in Bogota, Colombia will be included, which according to Insomniac are “two of our major maps in the game.” Ranking up will work just as in the retail version, although the devs have set the cap at 20.

There will be, however, other ways — which remain undisclosed — to obtain a key to download it; we’d be getting our Twitter and Facebook accounts ready if we were you.

Resistance 3 is set for a September 6th release, exclusively on PlayStation 3.
