Wacky mature-themed puzzler Catherine has proven to be an early success for Atlus. Since its July 26th release in the US, the game has quickly become the publisher’s biggest launch title in its 20-year history.
“Catherine has exceeded our highest expectations,” Tim Pivnicny, VP of Sales and Marketing at Atlus, told IGN. “It released last week to tremendous critical acclaim and fan response, bolstered by the release of a demo a couple weeks prior, and continues to generate discussion among fans for its mature themes, engrossing subject matter, and frantic, challenging gameplay.”
Atlus is unable to provide any precise data at this time, but does say the game “continues to see strong sales at retail.”
The PS3/360 title will launch in Europe at a later date, in conjunction with Deep Silver. More on that deal here.
