Perhaps you went crazy during E3 2011 in June when Nintendo announced that a new Smash Bros. game was in development and that it would work with both the Wii U and the 3DS. However, we hope you’re ready to wait a while for it.
In an interview with NowGamer, Smash Bros. series director Mashahiro Sakurai said the game is a ways off because the studio is focusing all its effort now on the upcoming 3DS game Kid Icarus: Uprising.
“I will think about this once Kid Icarus is complete,” said Sakurai. “But as it is a game of a competitive nature, I do not think that any one person should have an advantage.”
Talking about Super Smash Bros. Brawl, he said, “there are many things that can be improved upon” and gamers will be impressed “once you see how well-made Kid Icarus is”.
Having to wait a while for the follow-up to Brawl does not bother me one bit. I want the best game possible, and am willing to give the team as long as they need to deliver.
