Rambo is coming to current generation consoles. I could leave that line as the sole statement in this article and that would be more than enough for most fans, but I’ll go a bit deeper for the non-Rambo people out there. They really exist?
Reef Entertainment, best known for the Wii titles Rogue Trooper and Sniper Elite, have secured the license for Rambo and assure us the game will “capture the gritty atmosphere and full-on action which made the Rambo movies so successful.” While the game has no title as of yet, the developer has set eyes on a 2012 release date on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
Peter Rezon, CEO of Reef Entertainment, is a self admitted “big fan” of Stallone movies and says when they had the chance to “secure the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise, we had to grab it with both hands.” The developer isn’t in it for the short term either, with the deal signed with film company StudioCanal giving them the ability to create multiple Rambo based titles.
“With the success of the most recent Rambo film,” said Rezon, “and an international appetite for action movies with Expendables 2 scheduled for release next summer, we felt now was a good time to do something special with this license.”
Anytime is a good time for Rambo, sir. Anytime.
