Battlefield 3 not launching on Steam appears to have become a settled matter. A list of digital retailers posted by publisher EA is a long one, however, it makes no mention of the 30 million users strong Valve service.
Neither side have given a formal comment on this, though the problem is believed to lie in the way add-on content gets distributed; EA likes to do it in-game while Valve’s terms of service apparently prohibit such an approach. Hence the recent disappearance of Dragon Age II from the service.
Fans of the series may wish to pre-order the game from EA’s own online store, Origin, anyway though. Those who do are granted a 48-hour lead in next month’s beta testing.
