Atari has completed their selling of Champions Online developer Crytpic Studios, handing the team over to Chinese MMO company, Perfect World.
It was announced that Atari would be selling off the studio back in May, with Perfect World stepping up to purchase them around two weeks later. PW acquired a 100 percent equity interest in the studio for just under $50 million. A total of $30.7 million of the money will be used to repay debts owed to the BlueBay credit facility. The rest will go towards Atari’s social/mobile games initiative.
Where will the new publisher take Cryptic Studios? What does this mean for Champions Online?
