One high point in every gamer’s month is the NPD sales data – figures that show both hardware and software sales in industry’s past 30 days. It allows fans to brag about victory and respective companies to, well, pretty much do the exact same thing. Up until now however the data has only covered North America. Not anymore.
The group has announced that it will be expanding its coverage to UK, Germany and France. That will include “new physical formats sold at retail, social network gaming, used video games, rentals, subscriptions, digital downloads, downloadable content, and mobile games.”
A consistent sales tracking group for these territories has always been in high-demand, as hardware sales are quite different to that of the US. The first European numbers will be for October, so check back in November to see how well the industry is doing in the EU.
