F2P Age of Conan doubles revenues

Funcom MMO Age of Conan has welcomed 300,000 new players since it went free-play-play and gained the Unchained moniker a month or so ago, the company’s announced.

Not only that, those new players have helped the game to double its revenues.

Says CEO Trond Arne Aas: “The launch of the hybrid business model has been very successful so far.

“The activity levels on the servers are booming with a fourfold increase in players during July, we more than doubled the revenue generated from the game, and we have experienced a positive development in subscriber numbers. This definitely gives us great hope for the game’s future.”

Funcom is currently working on new content for the game. Expect ‘The Savage Coast of Turan’ Adventure Pack “in the near future.”
