During a recent interview, Microsoft Xbox Live marketing manager Robin Burrowes revealed that the popular online service is now being used by 35 million users, which would be a growth of 5 million since last January. A growth that no doubt was boosted by the launch of Xbox Live in new regions and countries across the globe.
“Our audience growth is up to 35 million people globally across those 35 countries on Xbox Live itself,” said Burrowes. However, he declined to inform how many of those were paying customers (Gold membership) and non-paying ones (Silver membership).
He did say, though, that Microsoft is earning “more revenue from the transaction space than the subscription space,” which would certainly include Games on Demand, XBLA, Zune Marketplace, DLC and other digital items.
