PS3 gets sales boost thanks to price drop

Surprising absolutely no one, the PS3 has seen a boost in hardware sales following a price cut of $50 announced at Gamescom last week.

That’s true in the UK at the very least (though it’s not doing bad in the US); sales were up by 65 per cent week-on-week, MCV reports, with the new UK price of around £200. With Microsoft not threatening to return the cut any time soon the ball could well be in Sony’s report for a good while.

With advertising hitting stores today and the holiday season now snapping at our heels, it’s all to play for in the rest of 2011.
