Virtua Fighter is coming back to consoles, but not with a full-on sequel.
Instead we’re getting Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, a stand-alone game coming to PSN and XBLA. It’s part expansion, with new characters, mode and arenas, part sequel, with an overhaul on the fighting system among a slew of other improvements like newbie-friendly control modes. Two new characters will join the roster as well as features like customisable character items. Those new guys are Taka-Arashi from Virtua Fighter 3 and an all-new character, Jean Kujo.
Sounds like the team has got a lot to add to the series. Good thing the game doesn’t release until summer next year, then.
