While EA and other publishers buy up social gaming developers like there’s no tomorrow, Activision has gone a different route, and we’re yet to see any action from them on the social side.
Odd, considering that the publisher is at the helm of the most popular shooter franchise on the planet, but don’t count them out just yet says CEO Eric Hirshberg: “Valuations of some of the companies in that space are out of whack, so that’s an issue when it comes to acquisitions,” he told Bloomberg (via).
He later added: “any new place where people are playing games, at scale, is something that we’re interested in.”
“Don’t mistake careful, methodical planning for inaction,” he concluded.
