Microsoft and LucasArts have confirmed that the upcoming Kinect-powered Star Wars game, suitably titled Kinect Star Wars, has been delayed. The standalone game as well as the limited edition Star Wars-themed Xbox 360 console were penned for a “holiday 2011” release, which we can now assume won’t be happening; next year would be more likely the year we’ll get to destroy our living rooms with an imaginable “force.”
According to a Microsoft spokesman, “Microsoft and LucasArts have elected to move the launch of Kinect Star Wars beyond holiday 2011 to ensure the full potential of this title is realized. This move applies to both the Kinect Star Wars stand-alone game and the Kinect Star Wars Limited Edition Console. We will communicate additional timing information at a later date.”
That usually means that either something isn’t going according to plans or, well… that. But should the game need more polishing, then by all means, go ahead and delay it; this fall/winter seems to be jam-packed as it is.
