New Wii will be super-cheap at some retailers

Despite the loss of backwards compatibility, the new Wii model – available in Europe alone – isn’t meant to cut the price of the system.

Some retailers will be doing just that in order to get a holiday boost, however. Select companies have informed MCV that they will be temporarily dropping the price of the system to as low as £79.99 in the UK for a holiday sales boost. Similar results were seen when the hardware bundle including Mario Kart and the Wii Wheel was released in May.

The new box includes both Wii Sports and Sport Resort as well as a console that lies horizontally.
