Was this year’s Yakuza really Of The End? Not likely – SEGA has confirmed to Famitsu (via Andriasang) that a further two more games in the series are currently in development.
It’s a little ahead of the press conference that series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi promised today, but Yakuza 5 has been confirmed (yay!) along with a sequel to Yakuza Black Panther on PSP (huh?). Where the true fifth title in the series will be showing up is unknown at this point in time, though a PS3-only release is likely as always. Black Panter‘s sequel will remain on Sony’s original handheld.
Meanwhile Nagoshi and his development team have spun off into their own SEGA studio, the Yakuza Studio (known as Ryu ga Gotoku Studio in Japan). Guess that means there’s plenty more Yakuza on the way, then.
We can still look for more details as Nagoshi’s conference later today.
