Perfect World is aiming to get its Runic Games-developed Torchlight MMO out to the masses in roughly a year and a half; the game is targeting a late 2012/early 2013 launch.
Perfect World CEO Kelvin Lau slipped the news during the company’s second quarter financial call: “Torchlight from Runic, as mentioned, I think the MMORPG version is going to be – is scheduled to be launched in late 2012 or early 2013.”
Perfect World is a majority shareholder in the developer.
Runic CEO Max Schaefer said last month that, while still planned, the MMO is ways off; “We have a lot of good ideas for the MMO, we just aren’t committing to any kind of schedule yet.”
Not that Torchlight fans have to wait that long to get their next fix; Torchlight II is expected to release later this year.
