Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 has put the developer at the front of the technology scene in this cycle of consoles, with their own Gears of War series pushing the limits of the Xbox 360 with every release.
It should come as no surprise, then, that the team are currently working on at least one next-gen system with a platform holder. Dev pres Mike Capps revealed as much in an interview with VG247.
“The hard part about getting to work with the hardware manufacturers early is that then I can’t talk about it at all,” he said when asked about new systems.
“‘What would you like to see?’ I can’t tell you, because I know what’s going on.”
So what is “going on” and just who is it “going on” with? Perhaps we can look back to that vision of the team’s new tech shown earlier in the year.
Given the team’s relationship with Microsoft and recent rumors about the next Xbox, it seems likely that that’s where the team is going right now, though they’ve also worked with Sony on the PS Vita, so we wouldn’t be surprised to find them on PS4 either.
