Blizzard will be releasing 6 new products in the next 3 three years, Activision Blizzard COO Thomas Tippl has said.
Speaking at the Citi 2011 Technology Conference, Tippl said all these releases would be based on ‘proven properties’ and will include expansions for World of Warcraft and StarCraft II.
Blizzard has been quiet on what’s next for WOW but at the same time has made no secret of the fact that a new expansion is in the works (and a “f’ing awesome” one at that). As for StarCraft II, The Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void releases have been known about for ages.
Also considered among the six are the launches of Diablo III — still expected this year — and an expansion, which Tippl expects will be available before 2014 concludes.
What does Blizzard itself say of the laid out plans? “We haven’t made any announcements in regard to plans beyond our current slate,” a Blizzard rep tells GameSpot. “Currently, we are focused on the next content update for Cataclysm, the upcoming release of Diablo III, and continued development on Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm.”
