With previous news suggesting as much, Planetside 2 has been confirmed to follow the free-to-play model.
The news comes from Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley who sadly didn’t go into the specifics, but did hint they “like League of Legends a lot.”
It is known though that the game, which was originally intended to be a F2P update to the first Planetside, will have an in-game shop.
Smedley also confirmed ‘late this year’ or ‘early next year’ as the possible launch windows for the beta; “it’s ready when it’s ready and we are proud of it,” he said.
