It’s a no-brainer that the Call of Duty franchise won’t stop after November’s Modern Warfare 3, but will Infinity Ward’s present day setting end with the final part of this trilogy? Co-developer Sledgehammer Games hopes not. In fact, they want to develop Modern Warfare 4.
Sledgehammer CEO Glen Schofield said as much to Gamerzines during the CoD XP event last week. “I wouldn’t mind taking a formula here and there and tweaking it, but if they came to me and said ‘you’re doing Modern Warfare 4‘, I’d do high fives,” he said.
“If they said ‘you’re doing Call of Duty something else’,” he continued, “I’d be pretty excited about it.”
Would it be possible for the team to carry on with their currently on-hold third person Call of Duty? We’d like to see it based on Schofield’s claims of it being like Dead Space.
“I want to make at least one more first-person shooter,” Schofield added. “I want to get really good at it.
“I would definitely, 100% work with Infinity Ward again because they’re just the best. But I wouldn’t mind giving Sledgehammer a shot on something.”
Well you can pretty much bet whatever we see next from Sledgehammer will be Call of Duty-based, then.
