UK Charts: Dead Island wins, no El Shaddai

There’s reason to celebrate this Monday – other than it being my birthday (happy birthday to me!) – as a host of new games are sitting on top of the UK charts this week.

If you thought that the epic trailer and endless violence would make Techland’s Dead Island No. 1 this week then you’d be right. Despite mixed reviews, the zombie-fest came out on top, followed somewhat more surprisingly by Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine in second.

Oh, and remember when Driver: San Francisco failed the beat Deus Ex: Human Revolution last week? Well it’s done it this time around, coming in third while Jensen falls to fifth. Sitting in between them at four is PS3-exclusive Resistance 3.

The excitement doesn’t stop there though (!) as the fallen titan that is Zumba Fitness now rests in sixth place, far from its number one spot it previously held for 10 weeks. Rugby World Cup and LEGO Pirates follow (snore), but after that is another big release from last week, Star Fox 64 3D in nine. Obviously a 3DS price cut hasn’t been enough to fly Fox and co into first.

Last but certainly not least is Gran Turismo 5 of all things. Sony’s racer has somehow come out of nowhere and back into the tenth spot. Maybe there’s a sale on it, somewhere?

Time to find where my favorite game of the week, El Shaddai, came in the rest of the top 40…

Oh… oh dear. It’s not there.
