Cryptic’s Daniel Stahl will exit the studio at the end of the month, he’s announced in a note to the community. Citing goals to “move on in my career and pursue new challenges” — no word on what that entails yet — the Star Trek Online executive producer’s duties will be handled by CTO Stephen D’Angelo until a permanent replacement can be found.
Stahl took the position this summer as previous executive producer Craig Zinkievich resigned in July.
Stahl’s departing words, in part, read: “Perfect World [which recently purchased Cryptic] is going to be an amazing partner for Cryptic to work with.”
“Free-to-play is something that I’ve always wanted for this game because I have seen the value and success of that business firsthand by watching Champions Online.”
It was announced earlier this month that STO would be adapted to the free-to-play model before the year’s out.
