Just a few days ago, Turn 10 Studios announced its upcoming racer, Forza Motorsport 4, will get a demo up on Xbox Live for everyone to try out. Given the critically acclaimed history of the franchise, it’s hard to believe it will do anything else but reassure fans of the genre the next installment in the series will be an instant hit. But, just to be sure…
Now, a few days after the announcement, details arrive about the demo and what we can expect from it. It will be based on the demo Turn 10 presented at E3 2011 earlier this year, which included a Quick Race option through the mountainous tracks of the Bernese Alps with the Kia cee’d, the 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator, the 2011 Subaru WRX STI and the 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO.
What should be of more interest for those planning on taking on people worldwide via Xbox Live, is the implementation of the studio’s new Rivals mode, which roughly explained is Forza 4‘s own take on Need for Speed‘s Autolog feature. This means that you can race your friends at any time, regardless of them being online or not.
“The Rivals mode, we’ve already found, is hugely addictive,” said Turn 10 head Dan Greenawalt. “Our hope [with the demo] is to give people something they can really dig their teeth into until the game comes out. Then of course, it’s not like it’s hundreds of cars and hundreds of tracks. It’s limited content.”
