BioWare just announced the opening of a “state-of-the-art” customer service center in Galway, in the west of Ireland (the studio’s first outside North America), creating job opportunities for 200 people. Now, that’s one hell of a first impression! The new facility, known as BioWare Ireland, will be handling 24/7 support for upcoming MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, developed by BioWare and LucasArts and set for a December release later this year.
“MMO launches are complex, and we are determined to set a new standard for a high quality, stable, smooth launch for our fans,” said BioWare Doc Ray Muzyka. “Our new BioWare facility and team in Galway is critical to ensuring we deliver on that goal.”
BioWare co-founder, Dr. Greg Zeschuk, added, “it’s exciting to bring the Galway community into the BioWare family in support of this high-priority launch. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the strong support from the Irish government and the strong local mix of technology infrastructure and recruitment opportunities.”
No other studios in the EA/BioWare chain have been affected by this announcement.
