Mojang and Bethesda to settle Scrolls battle in court

It would seem that Bethesda – much to our disappointment – has refused Markus ‘Notch’ Persson’s offer to settle a legal battle over the ‘Scrolls’ title with a game of Quake and will instead be taking the issue to court.

Bethesda’s legal team first took up the issue of Persson’s upcoming game, Scrolls being named too much like their own The Elder Scrolls franchise a few months ago. Persson, a member of Mincecraft developer Mojang wrote on Twitter today: “The Scrolls case is going to court! Weee! :D” Someone’s obviously excited.

Persson has promised to fight this for as long as is necessary, so it should be an interesting battle. Who will win? The might of the AAA developer or the once-tiny indie team?
