Steamworks made the move to PS3 along with Portal 2 earlier in the year but we’ve yet to see the service show up on 360. It’s largely assumed that this is due to Microsoft’s strict approach to running Xbox Live, but Valve believe that we could yet see the service come to the console.
Studio writer Chet Faliszek spoke on the topic to Develop. “Maybe, we’ll see,” he said. “That’s something Microsoft will [have] to decide. There’s some things going on with Portal 2 right now, but we’ll see.”
Portal 2 on PS3 allowed players to link up the game with their own Steam account and even play the game’s co-op mode with PC and Mac users.
If Valve are successful, we’d hope to see Steamworks incorporated into the upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which is coming to PC, PS3 and 360 next year.
