Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb, or Major Nelson as we all know him by, reports on his blog that Epic Games’ Gears of War 3 has already sold over 3 million copies worldwide just one week since release. This makes the fictitious version of the chainsaw massacre the biggest game of the year so far. But we knew that already.
Hryb added that with this latest announcement, the Gears of War series has racked up over “one billion dollars in lifetime sales,” which no doubt will please Epic Games, let alone Microsoft considering the exclusive nature of the series. We’re pretty sure the 22,000 (and beyond) midnight launch events might have had a hand in all of this as well.
