Microsoft suddenly has room to cut the 360’s price considerably; thanks to a newly-opened manufacturing plant in Brazil, the company will be able to slash the console’s local cost by a hefty 40 percent.
“The company said it expects to sell the first console produced in Brazil in October,” reads a MarketWatch report on the move. “With the local production, Microsoft said that the price of video game consoles will be reduced by 40% here.”
The new factory is able to produce 17,000 units per week. Next to China, Brazil is now the second country where 360’s are made.
