BioShock Vita in “paper design stage”Posted on October 18, 2011
It’s perhaps best we forget Irrational Games’ promise to develop a BioShock title for PlayStation Vita for now; according to Ken Levine, the project is yet to leave “the paper design stage,” so it’ll be a good while before we see it, let alone play it. Especially as it’s a dedicated project and not a Vita version of Rapture or Columbia.
“I think for us, the idea we have is a really good expression on a platform like [Vita],” Levin’s told Joystiq. “It’s a different goal. And it has to sort of have its own voice in the franchise. If it just feels like a quieter voice in the franchise, I don’t think that works. For us I’d rather do something that’s an experiment and that’s a little different. And is unique for the franchise.”
Levine also said it’s not actually 100% clear yet who’d end up developing the project. The studio has spoken to some “extraordinary people,” so there’s a chance it may be outsourced.
