It looks like Markus Persson and his company, Mojang, have scored an early victory against Bethesda in the battle for the Scrolls name.
“We won the interim injunction,” Persson recently announced on Twitter. “We can keep using the name ‘Scrolls’.
“ZeniMax/Bethesda can still appeal the ruling, but I’m very happy.”
The legal battle concerns Bethesda’s worries that gamers will mix up Mojang’s upcoming Scrolls with the company’s own The Elder Scrolls franchise. Persson is understandably happy, adding: “No matter how this plays out, we should still do the quake game.”
Persson’s colleague, Jakob Porser added: “The Swedish courts seem to work! Scrolls, shall continue to be named Scrolls!”
“I’m very happy that the courts saw it our way and that Scrolls will get to keep its name. Hurray!”
