Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 has generally been hailed as a big improvement this year, but Konami’s efforts haven’t been enough to outsell FIFA 12, not by a long shot.
EA Northern Europe boss Keith Ramsdale revealed to Gamerzines this week that their footy champ was outselling PES by as much as 25 times. “When you look at Pro Evolution Soccer versus FIFA, only five years ago in the UK PES was outselling FIFA,” Ramsdale revealed. “On its first weekend like-for-like we’ve just outsold PES by 25 times.
“That’s a sign of the momentum and the fan base and community behind FIFA, and let’s be clear, an absolutely kick-arse game. It’s unbelievable.”
As always, FIFA 12 performed admirably on release week, shifting 3.2 million copies. We’d say the days of PES competing with FIFA are over but then again, we’d have said the same of EA’s franchise just a few years ago.
