That Modern Warfare 3 would quickly conquer the top spot on the UK’s all-formats chart surely comes as no surprise. The following might, though; it didn’t out-do the launch week of last year’s Black Ops.
Sales were down 1.6 percent over last year’s game, data collector Chart-Track notes in today’s figures. MW3 did generate more revenue though, 1.5 percent’s worth.
Also noted is that the week was the biggest ever in the UK, no doubt bolstered by the launch of the other giant newcomer of the week, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The Bethesda game launched a few days after MW3, on Friday, taking the #2 spot.
Previously released heavy hitters Battlefield 3 and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception drop to #3 and #6, respectively.
