More news on Modern Warfare 3‘s record smashing. Following the 24-hour record of 6.5 million copies sold, Activision’s now announced that the shooter has grossed more than $775 million worldwide in its first five days of availability, up quite a bit from the $650 million bar set by Black Ops a year ago and the $550 million set by Modern Warfare 2 in 2009.
The entire franchise has now sold more than $6 billions’ worth, making the series, in the words of Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, “one of the most valuable entertainment properties in the world.”
“We expect continued sales momentum, as reviews and audience enthusiasm suggest that this is the best Call of Duty game that we have ever made.”
A new Xbox Live record is established as well: over 3.3 million unique players in a single day, up from Black Ops‘ 2.6 million. Plus, the concurrent players record is broken as well: 3.3 million players.
