MechWarrior Online, the recently announced PC-only, free-to-play addition to the famed franchise, is still shy on the details, but as far as visuals go, expect it to look presentable at the very least; Crytek’s announced that Piranha Games chose their CryEngine 3 tech for the project.
“It is definitely the best choice for us,” studio prez Russ Bullock says in the news release. “Both the character animation pipeline with the procedurally and physics based animations and the destruction system fit our goals perfectly and allow us to develop a truly unique AAA experience based on the award-winning BattleTech Universe.”
No peeks into how it’ll look yet though. Sad face.
The game’s expected in 2012’s second half.
