While rumors of Apple’s iPad 3 releasing this year never came to fruition, the device could well be on for early 2012.
A DigiTimes report claims that the next iteration of the tablet will begin production as early as next January. According to “industry sources”, Samsung, LG and Sharp will have shipped components for Apple to uses in the device by the end of the year.
Touch module makers TPK Holding and Wintek, meaning Apple’s contracted manufacturer, Foxconn, should be starting work early next year.
Apparently the company is also testing out smaller, 7.85-inch iPad screens. The current iPad has a 9.8-inch screen.
That’s a pretty interesting rumor right there. How could a smaller screen benefit iPad users?
