Trine 2 gets cross-platform play, CE

The Steam version of Trine 2 will allow for PC/Mac cross-platform play, Frozenbyte’s announced. The beta, which is happening right now for those who pre-ordered, allows for just that in fact.

“The cross-platform multiplayer between Windows and Mac makes it easier to find people to play with, allowing everyone to enjoy the full co-op potential of the beta and the upcoming game,” said Lauri Hyv√§rinen, CEO of Frozenbyte.

While there’s still no precise launch date, the game is still targeting 2011 for release and is available for pre-order now in two forms. The standard $15 version as well as the newly-announced $25 Collector’s Edition, which comes with a digital artbook with developer commentary, plus the original soundtrack.

A DRM free version is coming as well, but not until sometime in 2012.
