Oh goodie, more next-gen Xbox rumors. This time the whispers come from a development source of Eurogamer’s who says Microsoft is planning to make the next-gen Kinect so accurate it can lip read, know when players are angry as well as the direction they’re facing.
The device can also “track the pitch and volume of player voices and facial characteristics to measure different emotional states,” the report reads.
Thanks to apparently being bundled with the hardware, Kinect 2 bypasses the USB cable which limits the current-gen device’s depth sensor to 30 frames per second and a 320×240 resolution.
Says the deep throat: “It can be cabled straight through on any number of technologies that just take phenomenally high res data straight to the main processor and straight to the main RAM and ask, what do you want to do with it?”
