In addition to patching patches, Bethesda’s plotting to release the Creation Kit for Skyrim. Those are the same tools the studio itself used to create the game, so they should well breathe much more life into the mod community. They’ll be available for free sometime in January.
A Wiki and series of videos will be released as well for that helping hand.
The studio’s also integrating Steam Workshop into the Kit, allowing modders to upload their creations which everyone can then browse through, rate etc.
“You’ll be able to do this from any web device, including your smartphone,” it’s written. “Like a live Netflix queue, when you fire up Skyrim, mods you flagged will be automatically downloaded and installed. Everyone here is really excited about the opportunities and possibilities this opens up for our entire community.”
It’s also clarified that mods won’t be Workshop-only. They can still be shared via mod sites.
