EA’s Online Passes can expire, shouldn’t

Here’s an eyebrow raiser: EA’s Online Passes can expire.

Such was the case with a NeoGAF user who picked up a new, wrapped copy of the publisher’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit more than 12 months after its late 2011 release, only to find that the code included in the game was no longer usable.

After some digging in EA’s EULA, a clause indicating that this can indeed occur was found. Lovely.

There’s a silver lining though: this should not happen, EA itself says, and new codes can be acquired for free. It’s just the matter of going through the hassle of dealing with EA’s customer service and waiting patiently.
