The Amazing Spider-Man confirmed for ‘summer 2012’; first video

With a new flick due to hit theaters next year, you just know a game won’t be far behind. And so it is, with Activision today formalizing The Amazing Spider-Man for a ‘summer 2012’ launch.

While a tie-in, the game takes place after the events of the movie, allowing players to free-roam Manhattan, hopefully made buttery smooth by the “evolutionary improvements to navigation and combat.”

Beenox is developing, with Seamus Kevin Fahey holding the pen.

Here’s a bit more on what to expect: “Using the game’s new Web Rush mechanic allows players to pull off a vast array of moves never before possible.  With a story that takes players through many areas all over (and under) Manhattan, fans will feel what it’s truly like to be a Super Hero, as they experience the cinematic adrenaline rush of web-swinging through the city and fighting crime using Spider-Man’s spectacular acrobatic moves and attacks.”

Next to the first piece of art which you can find in the gallery here, a teaser for the the game’s full trailer — to debut at, where else, the VGAs this Saturday — can be had below:
