Famed filmmaker Gore Verbinski’s (think Pirates of the Caribbean) transmedia company Blink Wink Productions (think Rango) has signed a deal with Microsoft, which will have the former create entertainment content for the latter’s platforms, including the Xbox 360. In fact, the first thing to come out of this deal will be a Kinect game to be released on Xbox Live Arcade in “late 2012.”
“Audiences consume content very differently today,” said Verbinski. “As an idea house, we at Blind Wink are looking forward to our partnership with Microsoft. Their various platforms give us access to new methods of distribution, allowing us to extend into emerging markets and connect more directly with the audience.”
And Microsoft’s Matt Booty seems to be equally excited about the future of this collaboration, saying “Xbox 360 gamers can look forward to innovative and creative games from the mind of Gore Verbinski that explore new and exciting gaming territory and take full advantage of our platforms.”
Xbox Live Arcade and Kinect, huh? I’m guessing having to imitate a constantly drunk pirate would be a dated experience by now?
