Sony has confirmed to Gamasutra that which has been feared by many a Team ICO fan for the past week; The Last Guardian creator, Fumito Ueda, has parted ways with the company.
Rumors of such an event spread to every corner of the internet last week. While Ueda has left the team, he will still be working on their latest (emphasis on late) PS3 project, which he is “committed to completing”. After that, who knows?
Ueda joined Sony in 1997, later giving birth to two of the PS2’s most celebrated titles: ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. The Last Guardian was originally meant to be arriving this holiday season, but has been delayed numerous times throughout development, leaving us uncertain of when it will finally release.
